원칙1: 칭찬과 감사의 말로 시작하라.
Begin with praise and honest appreciation.
원칙2: 간접적으로 상대방이 자신의 실수를 알아차리게 하라.
Call attention to people's mistakes indirectly.
원칙3: 상대방을 비판하기에 앞서 나 자신의 실수를 이야기하라.
Talk about your own mistakes before criticizing the other person.
원칙4: 명령하는 대신에 질문하라.
Ask questions instead of giving direct orders.
원칙5: 상대방의 체면을 세워주어라.
Let the other person save face.
원칙6: 조금이라도 나아지면 반드시 칭찬하라.
진심으로 인정해주고 아낌없이 칭찬하라.
Praise the slightest improvement and praise every improvement.
Be hearty in your approbation and lavish in your praise.
원칙7: 상대방이 좋은 평판을 얻게 하라.
Give the other person a fine reputation to live up to.
원칙8: 격려하라. 약점을 쉽게 극복할 수 있다고 격려하라.
Use encouragement. Make the fault seem easy to correct.
원칙9: 나의 혜택보다는 상대방이 얻게 될 혜택을 생각하라.
Forget about the benefits to yourself and concentrate on the benefits
to the other person.
